Graid Technology previously released a RAID solution that replaced a hardware RAID controller with a GPU and upgraded to the SupremeRAID SR-1010, the world’s fastest hardware of its kind.
In terms of controlling RAID volumes, it’s usually a big question of which hardware to fix. The hardware RAID controller is the most efficient option overall, as it’s essentially a targeted design, but it can be a serious limitation for performance and complex storage systems. So if speed is more important than power efficiency, it’s a good idea to go with an alternative software solution, and at this point, Graid is considering graphics controllers, since they’re calibrated for massively parallel work, which may be optimal for high-performance control of RAID volumes.
